I need you, and that's all

Recently I had a lot of reflecting thoughts, this usually occurs prior to the new year and reviewing what has been done so far. There is a long post which I wanted to write about, it has so much content, it's been hard trying to write in a way I can get the final message across otherwise it might come across conflicting. It will be blogged for posterity sake and for reflecting maybe in 10 years time. So that's the procrastinating excuse for being slow.

But a short prelude to that impending blog post is that I had the opportunity to chat with my other half and finding out what we want in life. Do we need to live a life based on the number on our paycheck? Does self-worth need to be measure by numbers? We somehow seem to be able to live comfortably here on a single paycheck with no inclinations to compete, to feel inferior from the lack of material wealth. We seem more concern with merely fulfilling our lives enriched with actual things to do, more time to think..to experiment..to explore. Isn't that what life is about? I dread going back to a life when we get caught up in the rat race all over again. I finally understand why over 300,000 Singaporeans choose to never come back though they never gave up the citizenship. For now, this song has been playing on my Nexus 7 paired with my underutilized Hidden Radio - repeat mode.

Batman's real name is called Lenny..haha

Batman mania...this is so cool. A man was pulled over dressed as the caped crusader in Montgomery County, Maryland, because his car had invalid numberplates. He was told to put real numberplates on the Lamborghini, rather than a Batman sign. He said he was on his way to cheer up children on the cancer ward of a local hospital. The driver was not charged.

More WANTS!

Coming soon...cool technology which would change how we use our computers.
My company was supposed to develop something similar, but looks like this would be easier adoption.
I wish they can work with Command and Conquer or StarCraft games!

New Gadgets for 2012?

Just watched Asus's Chairman Shih released the 2012 line of products for Asus at ASUS press conference on February 28th during MWC 2012 in Barcelona. Having bought 2 of their 2011 cool products last year, one being Transformer TFT101 tablet and the other is the Zenbook ultrabook. They have been rather great with support and rather well made devices. After watching the below videos, it does get one more excited about what is to come but yet I am hesitant to jump into getting more gadgets till the house is done. Wanted to get the new slimmer Transformer Prime but got my colleague to get it instead, just to play with it. Wondering who else I can convince to get the PadFone!

Go watch the crazy Asus chairman...though he does seem a bit cool and passionate but he ain't Steve Jobs, the marketing guru in delivering product announcments.

Misunderstood

Everyone and anyone can get misunderstood. I wish people can take time to see things, smell the roses. I bet God has his little secrets and ways to show the world that there's hope, if we take our time to find it.

Closer to the Edge

Going to the edge at Grand Canyon 2010.
As we come closer to the end of 2010, self-reflection sets in.

One of my philosophy in life is "No regrets" because in the end it makes us who we are..and we have to be true to ourselves. We alone are answerable for our decisions; our choices...
I love to live life to the edge, I thrive on extreme sports, anything with speed, fast with the wind-in-my-face feeling. I indulge in go-karting, mountain biking, inline skating, tracking the car, wakeboarding, rollercoaster rides...basically anything that throws caution to the wind, living life with the possibility of risking the body to  injuries or death. I already have 2 broken bones, numerous scars and many body areas which are void of hair growth due to the amount of scrapped flesh suffered from high speed falls.

But all this will stop and change when we finally have someone that matters in our lives. Our decisions now affect them, like I won't ever want to lose them, they will not want to lose me. So I hope I can find passion in other safer ways. Since I picked up roller skating when I was 7 or 8, I guess I have lived quite an eventful 20-odd years. As I slowly relinquish some of my gears, my go-kart and quite possibly get ready for a safer set of wheels in a couple more years, life's journey has finally reached another stage. I can't wait.

One song which drives passion into my soul, each time I hear it is by 30 Seconds to Mars called Closer to the Edge. And the chorus goes like this:

No no no no
I will never forget
No no
I will never regret
No no
I will live my life

This video blew me away. Watch it, one of the quotes in there echoes my words exactly.

Here we go 2011.

What would you do?

Shared by Precious on Facebook. I think everyone should be more sensitive and caring. I know how apathetic we have become as people living in this age where everyone has to be more productive, more hardworking, more stressed out...but never is there an excuse to be an asshole towards other human beings (unless they really are assholes - I wouldn't feel guilty standing up or beating someone mistreating others who can't stand for themselves).

We forget what's more important

Sometimes, people lose track of what's really important. And do you ever wonder why you let ridiculous things bother you? What if you one day lose it? Why do we often have to lose something before we realise it, cherish it...Utterly ridiculous.

Kicking Ass

Was catching this movie a couple of months back - KickAss starring Nicolas Cage. And with Mika coming into town, I thought it was appropriate to share this MTV.
Anyway finally got back to Wing Chun after a 2 months hiatus. This time round, I've changed location and learning the Cho Ga Wing Chun, which is a deviated form of Wing Chun, which we do not see in the movies from Ip Man 1,2 and upcoming more movies dedicated to Hong Kong-styled Wing Chun instead. For more information on Cho Ga Wing Chun it is found here - Ban Chung Zheng Dan Kam Cho Ga Wing Chun.

There are many Wing Chun classes in Singapore, springing up in interest due to the onslaught of Wing Chun movies. Clearly marketing helps in all things even martial arts. Well, I do hope this will not be a 5-min interest to all who are currently seen packing the classes. It is always good to learn martial arts for self-defense as well as for keeping in check - discipline and health.

Martial arts can be classified into close range or long range, defensive or offensive. After completing Tae Kwon Do for over 10 years, it is decided that I should choose a reactive close range combat to complement longer range defensive TKD fighting styles. Also because I can't jump anymore; and Wing Chun is really for all gender and all ages.

I am currently learning from Sifu Ken Lau who's lineage is from Ip Chun, son of Ip Man. (Yup the kid who rode a bicycle in Ip Man 1, and passing on Mom's message to Dad to start fighting or else everything in the house would break). Sifu Ken Lau is one of the very few certified Wing Chun instructors here in Singapore teaching both the Hong Kong Ip Man and the China Cao Family (Cho Ga) Wing Chun system. The class schedules can be found here. And his arms are rock solid and fist is probably bigger than some of the students' faces. Hope I can maintain the classes over the next few decades. Martial Arts is a form of combat and art, and together with science, body and mind - it can be very interesting; and it helps to kick asses or prevent your ass from being kicked!

Hard Love

Now I know why Chinese love to drink Turtle soup.

They should have filmed all the way to the post-sex and see how the Tortoise react after the Wok "bochups" him!

Perfect

The only true version found out on youtube, despite the Spanish lyrics and terrible feedbacks, the song is a classic.

Trying to ruffle the leaves, so that the magic is gone; guess that's the only way to know if things are as perfect as it seems and indeed if you're all I need.
