Tiger Tavern

Was invited by Daphne to the Tiger Tavern before they close for renovation this October '10. Together with Jase, we took the opportunity to understand about beer brewing and taste some of their fine drafts.

Return to the Valley

4 years ago, I was at the Valley but had to last minute turn the car back and return to work on a Sunday afternoon. But this time I was determined to get to Napa and enjoy myself, doing a  winery tour of my favorite wine maker but unfortunately the difference is that he has now passed on. But still enjoyed every bit of Mondavi's USD$3.5 billion sold wine business; the sights, sounds and more importantly the taste of Napa Valley and Sausalito.

Also did a short lunch at the best winery of Napa Valley - Vittorio Sattui
One can do a picnic on the beautiful grounds, taste all the complimentary wine before buying a chilled white or a full-bodied red wine and enjoy the great summer weather! Do note, V.Sattui wines are not available commercially.
More importantly, glad my folks enjoyed it...

Flushed red not good

You know how friends who drink and have their faces all flushed red, and people remarked they have great blood circulations? Well think again.

The enzyme deficiency in some Asians that causes their skin to flush when they drink alcohol also puts them at higher risk of getting esophageal cancer.

Well so far I have drank wine, whiskey, vodka, tequila, beer..and in all combinations and kinds - and my prior thoughts is I have bad circulation, one cannot tell I have been drinking besides the occasional tipsy walking. So now, I am relieved and relooked at my friends who are often flushed red - besides a sure tell-tale sign to the cops if you drink and drive, you are also more likely to get your gullet killed.

TP seriously reading my blog...help!

Ok..I seriously have to be careful with my words. 2 days in a row, I got breathalysed. Though this time I had it passed, had just some tame white wine with my date tonight, the scary part was, the Traffic police seem to know where I lived, because, there were almost camping right outside my place! (Star points to where I reside, and arrow is where they were waiting for me)I had to blow a lot more this time, and given the fact I normally don't blow well..come on..real men don't blow! The officer was being nice, though he kept my IC and driving license again.

He showed me the screen and I had to blow the tube hard and long before the sample is valid. And beep it was green...PASS!
Anyway 2 days in a row..crazy, I am leaving the country for awhile, until this thing blows over.

It appears there are one too many "blow"s in one post.

Or perhaps its my small japanese car..never a chick magnet, always a TP magnet! Time to change my ride or swear off drinking!

Think TP reading my blog!

Okay, seriously I shouldn't blog about speed cameras. Karma came back to me in the form of getting stopped for a spot check for alcohol..

I was stopped at the back lane of Mackenzie Road. I normally don't even take that road.
Arrow points at the spot where I had my virgin breathalyser. Anyway I did come from the Slingers game and there was free beer and wine. Luckily I rested first and had some dinner and tea to bring down the level. There was 3 levels to the breathalyser.

1) You drunk - Come with me to the police station.
2) I warn you - don't do it again. Now go on home and dwell on it!
3) You good boy - now go on home, thanks for letting me bother you.

I was at the warning level.
The Traffic police officer would keep your IC and your driving license and inform you beforehand that if you hit level 1, he was going to keep it and you have to follow him to the police station. He was nice enough to explain to me the alcoholic limit of each person differs from body to body and even gave me the plastic tube I blew in, as a souvenir to remind me how close I came to being hauled into the police station.

Thank God the NBL season just ended. More to come on the field report of the horrendous match. Really busy at work today..

CNY Simpsons gathering@Brewerkz

Okay a late post. Didn't really want to start blogging about the food until I am all full and not ready to eat anymore. The usual gang of KP and boo and KC, Jase and boo, Kun and newly met Cynthia were already at Brewerkz by the time I got there from my relatives. This is my first time joining the drunks on their CNY rituals of praying to the malt goddess. They have already embarked on food and beer before I arrived. And KC being absolutely sure that the most value for $ after 6pm would be the tower, we proceeded to order one.

So here is 4 litres of darkside goddess in a tower. With KP being disrespectful, licking the idol's appendage that's sticking out..hahah

And as Homer would go DOH!.. Cynthia has some fresh Krispy Kreme Donuts from Sydney, that would complete the Simpsonic act of malt prayers. Jase will camwhore with the delicious sweet things.

A lot more different types...but we can only choose one and the heart donut has already been reserved for that special someone..

I chose Cynthia's favorite strawberry glazed donut (it seems that she has a lot of favorites!!). Looking at the beer in the backdrop, that's ultimate sweetness.

Finally after donuts and beer, the tower has been conquered!!!

So looking forward to having this again next year and also the supposedly upcoming Batam trip of cable-skiing, paintball and go-karting!!! woohoo..and of course more drinking.

Now all I need is to figure out where to get all the leave and time despite my freaking busy schedules at work!
