A big hint

Sometimes technology of being connected on the move makes us even more disconnected. Perhaps we should all cancel our data plans, lose the smartphones and just revert back to pagers and snail mails. Perhaps being so connected or contactable makes one more liable to forget the people around us? Well, of late, I had fun doing the simple things of carrying lanterns and flying layangs.

Why I don't Photoshop

Normally my photos are as they are..except a bit of composure cropping and resize to make the file size smaller for uploading since per shot size is from 12-22mb. Anyway I don't advocate digital editing on photos because fundamentally I think they belong to another category for creative eyes who make adjustments to their shots on computers to create an art, while Nat Geo type of photographers create "art" from their eye through the lens. I do not mind a bit of HDR, airbrushing but I have seen many which seems to be way edited, though I really love it because of the mood and perspective it gives which might be impossible to photographers. Anyway to each their own, I am just old school for now, who knows if I might change later.


Anyway here is Photoshop at its worst...

Demi Moore's fat hips were obviously seen to be Photoshopped away on the latest December cover of magazine W.

It's almost Friday!! Another busy weekend ahead...had dinner with my JC girlfriends last night - apparently my schedule is so packed, I have excuses to stop dating. Duh....anyway so far my travel schedule is filling up till next August similar to this year's travel plans, traveling overseas almost every month. So it seems like singlehood is not by choice.

Jaymee Ong getting married

It's a sad day knowing your fav model is getting married. It's like taking my Claudia Schiffer and Cindy Crawford calenders and posters away from me during my adolescent-pumping-teenage years. But damn, Jaymee Ong is getting married!

A lot of people might not know who she is, currently seen on AXN's eBuzz as host as well as previous Contender Asia. I think I have some ads of her when she was still in her teen as a model...haha. She did appear on Pearl Harbor (I am still trying to find her in that movie) and guest appearances in various TV series such as Las Vegas and Entourage.

Anyway enough said about my persistent tracking of her, I am happy for her, seriously because I have seen her beau at the Slingers game, and I thought he might be someone in the industry - reading crappy sad news about consistent breakups between celebrities such as Glenn Ong really makes me wonder if those people can ever find true happiness. But is it now known that Jaymee's lucky 2nd half, Matthew Heath is an electrical engineer! B.Eng rawks! Seriously I applaude you - Matthew! As a fellow engineer, also with a B.Eng (Electrical & Electronics) title to my name - you scored!

So this goes out to all engineers who are having an increasingly prestigious job, and President Obama on the latest Jay Leno's show mentioned "Engineer" first over scientists, doctors or teachers as adding value to the world and yes, financiers and elite smart CEO-asses are the cause of the current shit we are facing. I hope the Singapore government was watching Jay Leno last week, hire some down-to-earth-engineer as MP for God's sake!

Birth rate up - Thanks to foreign talent

Singapore birth rate has increased - all thanks to foreign wives! A total of 16,232 babies were born in Singapore between January and May this year, with about 25 percent having foreign fathers and about 36 percent with foreign mothers.
Back to my previous post on Singaporean women, and why we should look towards foreign brides than give in to the demanding Singaporean women. Looks like many have and they seem to be more fertile as well! Being objective, I guess that's because the foreign brides would probably not have to work as hard as the Singaporean career minded women. And also because foreign brides would tend to be much younger.

Found this news report on youtube and seriously the Vietnamese mail order brides actually look quite pretty and demure!




So enticing, and I have no qualms about such foreign imports into Singapore!

No more Tao Huay (beancurd) for me

Ok brothers, no more drinking Vitasoy or eating Tao Huay at Geylang Yong He anymore! A Harvard School of Public Health study has shown that eating or drinking a lot of products containing soy and isoflavones can result in reduced sperm count among men.

"There was an inverse association between soy food intake and sperm concentration that remained significant after accounting for age, abstinence time, body mass index, caffeine and alcohol intake and smoking," the study said.

Luckily I've been cutting down on Soya for years now, since it was known to increase chances of gout.

Study: Men prefer being solo over a bad marriage

Reading this study... and speaking to most friends, I think it works for both men and women, but anyway check out the article here and interesting numbers below:

1) U.S. figures showed that in 1980 about 6% of men aged in their early 40s had never married but this number had now risen to 17%.
2) Online survey found there are three groups of bachelors -- about 8% who never want to marry, 62% want to marry but of which half won't settle for anything less than perfection, and about 30% who are on the fence.
3) 4 out of 10 bachelors did not want children compared to 3 out of 10 wanting to be a father. The rest were undecided.
4) While 72% of respondents said they were not afraid of marriage, about half of them said the situation that scared them most was marrying the wrong person.

By the way for those readers who were born from a totally different era from me, that's Han Solo in the picture, yes indeed he bears resemblance to Indiana Jones - both characters are played by Harrison Ford and yes that's about 30 years apart.
Well I wanted to use him to represent this topic because, yes his name is Solo and the fact that I will always remember this line from him in one of the Star Wars Prelogy “Wonderful girl. Either I’m going to kill her, or I’m beginning to like her.”

I think it's easier to kill or lose the girl than to like one. Many fans have singled out Han Solo as being cocky and bad-ass, yet sincere. No wonder he's always my favorite character.

Something I can't understand...

Facebook is a wonderful social networking tool. I've found my long lost primary school friends of over 20 years to even newly found ones. Even tonight, an Army friend whom I have lost contact with since Uni days have found me! hahaah

What's most interesting is that I have dwindled my addiction to Facebook, stopped myself from playing the addictive Petrol Head where I have managed to get an Aston Martin DBR9 Le Mans version and accumulated 15639600 points! I basically now use Facebook to keep in touch with my friends and ex-colleagues, like an emailing tool except its cool to stay in touch without sacrificing the already limited time we have. It's cool to put up old photos and new ones tagging friends in there, sharing all the photos we have taken, and even share the vacation pictures. In the beginning I've basically added all sorts of applications, and little did I know that this application called Compare People, which our peers vote for each other such as best smelling, smartest etc...have me stumbled in confusion.

I just recently saw that I have been voted:
1) Most athletic (Duh, I am training hard for my IPPT lately, cos I normally die passing the 2.4km run - have you seen me? I am like overweight!)
2) Most desired for marriage (Err..I am still single leh)
3) Most dateable (Err...single..and available and dateless)
4) Best catch (I think this one is because all other good men are married or attached already)
5) Most kissable (Ok, this one I do not mind, but hey I ain't getting any! Maybe that's why, have lots of kisses left)


So this is something I totally cannot fathom as well as my crazy friends who think that by having a ride..(check out the Aston Martin!NOT! hahha) you can get lots of gals.. but hey I ain't getting any dates or kisses! I doubt the female gender is really that shallow. In case you do not mind a date, that's me circled and arrowed in the little picture with Jase...just kidding..

:P Conclusion I think my friends are just being nice!..way too nice!
