Coming back from 3 weeks of Europe with absolutely no time to read the national propaganda (news)...I was totally unaware of a dengue outbreak in Singapore..
I was back working my butt off at work...and of course having late nights..but on Fri morning..i felt the chills..i tried to measure my temperature from the thermometer issued from the Post-SARS period.Damn - 37.1 degrees...coming from a guy who is usually a cool low 36degrees...indeed I am getting warm..(And crap - my panadol supply in my drawers are gone - from giving them away to colleagues since I don't fall sick often, company clinic is also closed)
Was feeling too ill from the chills and did not go for lunch..measure myself again and damn I was heating up ..37.5degrees - and this time I am not sure if it was due to a irritating colleague of mine who was pissing me off..(Was having a massive headache at the time, seldom have headaches..maybe once a year?).
Should I go visit a nearby Doc? But my work is not done yet..finally I gave up..finished my report and sent them out to my customers...teleconference at 6pm is a no-go.Told my boss and drove home and gone to a clinic near my home...
Stepped right in when they were closing..and Thank God because the Doctor measured my temperature again and I was not HOT...38.1degrees...my highest yet..(think in my life) and she started explaining there was a dengue outbreak in Singapore!
And that could explain for my fever or its a post trip Europe fever I brought back..but usually within 2-3 days and not a week..
Or I have been working too hard..tired fever...
I hope its that and not dengue..but then I remembered I got a mosquito bite couple of days ago on my head...
damn...with some medicine..i rushed home to sleep..and while taking my medicine - I saw the front page news...about dengue.. So it was the truth...
So I slept with breaks in the night of sticking my thermometer in my mouth and taking the temperature...all the way til afternoon the next day and it was fluctuating from 36.7 to 37.5 degrees all these while..
Got up at 1pm to have brunch and read the papers with coverage of dengue outbreak in the newspaper again - and one of the address is just next to my place...
Shit.
Now I can only monitor my temperature as the doctor advice and if its still high by Sunday, I need to take a blood test..
Back to sleeping...got my official excuse to be a pig.
